Mario Szabo is a photographer working between fashion and portraiture, based in London since 2019. Originally from Vancouver, with Slovak citizenship, his practice is shaped by an ongoing interest in how clothing and character intersect. This can be seen particularly within menswear, where he looks to build images that feel intimate rather than staged.

His path into the industry began in Vancouver, shooting agency tests, events, and editorial work, before he showed at the Capture Photography Festival in 2018. Since relocating to London, he has worked closely with fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco as first assistant, studio manager, and digital technician. During this time he supported shoots for clients including 10 Magazine, Man About Town, Twin, Harper's Bazaar Arabia, Montblanc, Hackett, and Philipp Plein, and absorbed the discipline of a working studio from the inside.

That experience sits alongside his own image-making, informed by the raw immediacy of Juergen Teller and the intimate, unposed honesty of Wolfgang Tillmans. Mario is currently developing an independent practice aimed at advertising and commercial fashion photography, with the ambition of placing work in publications including Another Magazine, Numéro, i-D, Dazed, and 10 Magazine, and showing at Photo London.
